Boeing 737 HUD (Head up display)

Here’s a fantastic photo of the Head-up display in a Boeing 737.

A head-up display is a system which allows a pilot to look up and forward in the aircraft, with key data overlaying his or her field of view. It’s a system usually seen in fighter jets, but which is becoming more common appearing in cars and commercial aircraft.

The system helps pilots to scan vital aircraft instrument data without taking their eyes away from the outside world, particularly useful making landings.

The below is a great video demonstration, a night landing seen through the HUD of a Boeing 737-800.
